For the Father seeks such worshippers, those who would worship Him in Spirit and in the truth of His word, that He would dwell in them!
Jubilation 2009 was very fulfilling as far as the theme is concerned, and I tell you the many participants from the various walks of life that joined the trail to the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry (CEM), Agobga, left the place with refreshing moments they would relive again and again. It was the 11th edition of the annual musical programme organized by the Legon Pentecostals’ Union (LPU), and the theme was “A true worshipper, my dwelling”. A powerful prayer session began it all at about 5:30pm, and was followed by a short gospel jazz session with “Just Friends”. This group of four included Steve (sax), Edmund (guitar), Prince (bass) and Ernest (the M.D of the host choir) on the drum. They ministered “a sweet anointing”, telling of the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit at the meeting. Immediately after the jazz session was the praise time. The saints gathered were led by Erick Okyere to sing praises unto the name of the living God. Everybody had something to trade; a sorrow, shame or pain, singing together “yes lord yes yes lord”! Participants also danced to ayeyi wura, asafo, asafo yehowa, you are the most high God and our God reigns etc, all in praise to God. The worship after the praise was one of a kind. The leading minster (Richard) revealed the truth that speaking in tongues is one best way to worship God. Making references to interconnected scriptures in the New Testament (Acts 10:46; 1 Cor. 14:2, 4, 16, 17), the congregation began to worship God in the spirit (as enabled by the Holy Spirit) with the revelation of this aspect of true worship. After the time of worship, the LPU president, Emmanuel Tetteh –Gah delivered his welcome message to the participants. Beginning with Jesus’ confession of His commissioning by the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:18), Mr. Tetteh – Gah noted that Jubilation is a platform for declaring the acceptable year of the Lord. Concerning the theme for the event, Emma explained that God wants His children to worship Him by the revelation of His word of truth. To that effect, Jubilation 2009 had been set aside to reveal and involve God’s children in the life of true worship which is God’s great desire from the new creation. He prayed participants to see the event far beyond an entertainment, but as a miracle service because God’s manifest presence dwells in the place of true worship. Assuring the congregation of God’s presence, he urged all to participate in body, soul, and spirit because God was ready to do (for all whose hearts were prepared for Him) exceedingly and abundantly far above what could be thought or imagined! His speech ended in the song “God is able” (originally by Donnie McClurkin). The President’s speech was followed by the introduction of the executives of the Sensational Inspirational Choir who toiled (as helped by the Holy Spirit) to make the programme a success, and more welcome messages from them. The first major ministration of the night was choreography by the Assemblies of God Campus Ministry (AGCM) Theatre Group. They carefully projected God’s awesome love and care for man, and His willingness to carry everyone who decides to soar with Him in all the storms of life. It was now time to receive the first package of True worship from the host, the Sensational Inspirational Choir (SIC), who were welcomed on stage with a standing ovation. “The Lord is worthy to be praised” was the first they ministered, singing “yeah” to the great I am. They also sang of God’s greatness with “How great thou art” which was a combination of various versions, ending with Chris Tomlin’s “How great is our God”! More praise followed with “My Lord and King” (which was also sang in French). The style of the song was not salsa, yet participants were dancing salsa to it, singing along with the choir to the praise of God’s Glory. The SIC featured the immediate past deputy M.D (Dennis Quarcoo) in their next ministration “We exalt thee”. He did not only minister, but also with great skill and voice technique. Now this other person so ministered to all participants. Her name is Eugenia Owusu Asare (immediate past Vice President of LPU), and she got all of us into the song “Let it be a sweet sweet sound in your ears”. Another touching ministration from the SIC was “He is exalted on High”. It indeed brought all hands in the air, waving gently to the Lord and God, the one exalted on High. The SIC also ministered to persons who had not yet received Jesus (with ‘soon and very soon we are going to see the king’) and to those who wanted a vital experience of God in their lives. Confessions and declarations were made into the lives of many who put faith in that segment of the programme. Yaw Adjei (one of the mcs for the night) couldn’t see the song come to a swift end, so took over and sang another stanza of the song till all joined sing the chorus of the song. The guest Choir for the programme was the Melodious Missionaries of AGCM, who ministered songs including “Halleluiah, anopa”, “Sacrifice of praise”. They called for the dancing shoes, and we gave them out in their ministration “Nhyira nka awurade”. The coming on stage of “Tagoe Sisters” brought more life into CEM chapel though it was late in the night. It couldn’t have been more obvious than it was, how prepared the hearts of participants were to receive the ministration of the Tagoes. Everybody was on his feet throughout their ministrations. On a slow tempo, they started ministering with “yewo nyame a osombo” and they continued with “ohene yehira wo”. Now put on shoes wherever you are. Okamafo Jesus, se me hwe adea waye ama me, yedi nkunim, then manim renguase daa – the auditorium was full of dance and dances of joy! So the list continues; watua maka, adea yesu aye ama me, halleluyah yesu din aye nwanwa, adekye nsoroma…! Hey, hope you are not already regretting if you missed the event. But for the other aspects of the programme yet to be experienced, Jubilation 2009 would have ended with this praise moments led by the Tagoes. So what happened in the second package from the SIC? “Ancient of days” went rocky, “Highest praise” went dancy! But did I hear someone shout “buyaka”? A Jesus chant sandwich revived those who were getting tired, running them around all over the auditorium! The gathered saints tasted of Midnight Crew’s “Igwe”, dined with Stella’s “Ebenezer” and wined with a jazzy remix of “se me hwe, ade a waye ama me”. A side attraction of free Frutelli drinks and corn pops added to the whole excitement of the night. The SIC alumni were not left out at all. They ministered a reggae medley featuring “wahendzi” and “metena yehowa fi” among others. Other songs in the second package included “Lord I lift your name on high”, “aseda ben na menfa” and “barima yesu”. Jubilation 2009 brought to light truths about true worship which many have not sought to lay hold on, and would be greatly remembered in this regard. Mcs. for the night were Yaw Agyei and Jessica Danquah. |
